Big Air At Paoli Peaks

Paoli Peaks has become very proficient at hosting some of the most exhilarating and thrilling competitions in the Midwest. This season should feature even more thrills, chills, and certainly spills. Due to popular demand, they will be hosting their Big Air, Boarder X Series, and Fat Tire Free Fall Series.

The Big Air competition will provide riders and spectators many breathtaking and spine-tingling moments. The name Big Air speaks for itself. Riders are judged on difficulty of the maneuvers, style, and of course Big Air! Well over a hundred competed in the series last season and anticipation is huge for 2001. The dates for Paoli's Big Air competitions are January 7, February 4, and March 3, 2001.

The Boarder-X and Skier-X events combine alpine speed excitement and Roller-Derby mentality for the participants. Boarder-Cross is one of the fastest-growing disciplines in snowboarding and is rumored to become a sanctioned event in the 2002 Olympic Games. Over 70 riders competed in the Boarder-X at Paoli Peaks last season. The addition of the Ski-X this season will add yet another element to this unique competition. The Boarder-Cross series will be held every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm on the Powerline Race Course. Riders will compete weekly to gain point accumulation for the big finale.

January 7 and March 3 will also feature the second annual on-snow mountain bike event called Fat Tire Free Fall, a downhill competition along with a Biker-X. Hosting an on-snow event will add a totally rad twist to the sport of mountain biking in southern Indiana. These events are guaranteed to induce some amazing thrills and chills for all who attend.
