Podium One LLC has combined forces with Paoli Peaks Ski Resort to bring one of the finest motocross racing events to the East coast October 20-22, 2000 - Mammoth East at Paoli Peaks.

Over 18 different classes will race Saturday and Sunday from sunup to sundown. Racing will include everything for the peewee racers up through the pro classes. The layout and design of the course was created by Gabe Tinsley of Tinsley excavation and grading, along with Rob Abel. The European-style, all-natural course will cover over one mile going up and down several of the slopes. Riders will reach speeds of 65 to 75 MPH on some of the hills.

Pro riders will compete for money, with overall pro purses exceeding $3000 to $5000. Sponsors for the event include: S&S Powersports; Miller Beer; Zip Express; Abel Construction; Adventure Sports; and Podium One Motoplex.

The idea for Mammoth East originated with Podium One, located in Charles-town, Indiana. Podium One produces approximately 25 racing events a year, with a following of riders and fans that love the sport of motocross. "They are always wanting something new," says co-owner Bo LeMastus. "We had been to an event in Mammoth Mountain, California, which holds an annual motocross each June. Our riders simply loved it. After completing the weekend in California, we came straight back to Indiana and started talking to the folks at Paoli Peaks about doing a Mammoth East."

The race is planned to be an annual event. "We are going to promote this race in the future to become one of the biggest motocross events on the East coast," says LeMastus.

Riders can sign up on Saturday and Sunday, as both days of racing are separate. Timed practice will be held Friday, which will be considered extra practice as time will be offered for practice both Saturday and Sunday. A live band will follow racing on Saturday, along with a Bavarian food court and beer garden.

Entries from Michigan, Tennessee, Illinois, Florida, Wisconsin and Kentucky have already been received. So, make your plans now.
